What comes next for your practice, your clients, and your profession? NAIFA–South Dakota’s 2026 Sales Summit brought those questions into focus on October 11 at the Canopy by Hilton in Sioux Falls.
Held in partnership with the Big I, the event brought insurance and financial professionals together for a day of education, conversation, and connections centered on “Building What’s Next—Plan Today. Lead Tomorrow. Protect the Future.”
The program offered plenty to think about—and put into practice. Deborah Reed explored considerations for buying or selling a practice, while Cole Cheeseman challenged attendees to consider where they want to be in five years. Roger Grannis brought a fresh perspective to building relationships through his presentation, “The Yellow Cake Principle.”
Cybersecurity experts Dr. Ashley Podhradsky and Katie Shuck shared practical guidance on recognizing fraud, understanding emerging threats, and protecting businesses and clients. Their insights reinforced that preparing for the future includes staying alert to risks that continue to evolve.
A conversation with U.S. Senator Mike Rounds connected the day’s discussions to the public policy issues affecting South Dakota and the financial services profession. It was a valuable reminder of why staying informed and engaged in advocacy matters.
George Bain explored how reverse mortgages can fit into a retirement income strategy, helping attendees better understand the role home equity can play in retirement planning. His presentation emphasized informed decisions and identifying when a reverse mortgage may be an appropriate option for a client.
Throughout the day, attendees also had opportunities to reconnect with colleagues, meet new people, and visit with industry partners. The trade show, IFAPAC auction, and evening reception added to the opportunities to exchange ideas and strengthen relationships.
Thank you to our speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, and everyone who took time away from their businesses and families to join us. We also appreciate our Big I partners for helping make this shared event a success.
The next step is taking those conversations and ideas home—and using them to build what’s next.
