Douglas Massey, LUTCF, CLU, ChFC, CRES, FSS, is a registered representative with OFG Financial Services, Inc., where he has been since 1992. His practice specialties include retirement planning and life insurance. His company’s focus is on near-retirees and retirees. It also does a significant amount of business in the non-profit and 403(b) market.

A NAIFA member since 1987, Massey has served as Chair of the IFAPAC Committee, was on the NAIFA-TX board of directors from 2008-2014, and was President of NAIFA-TX from 2012-2013.

He has attended every NAIFA Congressional Conference since the meeting’s inception and has attended every NAIFA-TX Legislative Day since 1991. He is one of the key contacts for Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz and Rep. Michael Conaway.

Massey is an IFAPAC Defender (monthly contributor), as well as a contributor at several events each year. Over the years, he has recruited and sponsored many NAIFA members and has encouraged past members. He has moderated LUTCF and FSS classes and is a Leadership in Life Institute (LILI) graduate.

No business is too small to plan properly. Vicente will walk us through a case study on a small business and demonstrate how planning can eliminate issues in the event of an untimely death as well as employee retention.

Vicente Pina, AEP, CLU, ChFC, FLMI, LLIF, serves as Director in Prudential Financial’s Individual Life Insurance Advanced Markets team. Vicente has nearly thirty years of experience in the financial services industry. He has worked predominately in the development, distribution, and support of life insurance products. Vicente’s primary focus at Prudential is Life Insurance Planning for the Ultra Affluent, Strategies for High Net Worth and Foreign National Clients, and Advanced Case Design.

Prior to joining Prudential, Vicente was Director of Member Firm Development for M Financial Group, the largest independent distributor of life insurance in the United States. He previously worked in New York City for TIAA-CREF and AXA, where he was responsible for product development, support, and marketing. Vicente previously worked for LIMRA, where he was Director of Latin America and Director of Development for Asia/Pacific. He started his career with Prudential in 1989. Vicente is a graduate of Bryant University and the Babson College/LIMRA Life Institute Fellow program. He is a Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Life Underwriter, Accredited Estate Planner, LIMRA Leadership Institute Fellow, and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute. Vicente and his family reside in the Portland, Oregon area.

This session will help Advisors learn how to properly position the disability conversation and understand the necessity to have these important needs brought to the attention of business owners and their key employees.

Michael J. Sir, RHU, has been an industry leader in the Disability Insurance arena for over 36 years and spent 23 years with Principal Financial Group as a DI Regional Vice President prior to his retirement in 2020.

He is a member of NAIFA and the International DI Society. Mike, along with his business partner, James Leary, currently own and operate OneProtection, an income protection presentation software designed to help financial professionals better educate, demonstrate, and bring clarity to their clients in this critical area of planning.

Justin joined the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) in June 2024. He comes to SDAHO with 29 years of experience working in the long-term care industry. Before SDAHO, Hinker was the administrator for Avera Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls.

Hinker attended the University of South Dakota where he earned a Health Services Administration degree. He and his wife Julie, who teaches Junior Kindergarten, reside in Lennox, South Dakota where they raised their 4 children. When not working, Hinker enjoys being outside, especially spending time with friends and family, and perhaps a little golf.

This course provides an examination of long-term care insurance as a critical tool in managing the financial risks associated with long-term care. For insurance professionals and financial advisors helping their clients plan for future care needs, this course offers an  overview of the principles and practices involved in long-term care insurance.

Brent DeGroot, LTCP, CLTC works with independent marketing organizations (IMOs) and brokerage general agencies (BGAs) to grow OneAmerica Care Solutions product line. He provides training to IMO/BGA leadership, back offices, and producers to support and drive the growth of Care Solutions in the brokerage channel.

An industry veteran, Brent brings 24 years of knowledge in the LTC and life brokerage space. Prior to joining OneAmerica in 2019, Brent spent more than 10 years with Mutual of Omaha developing relationships and achieving success with brokerage distribution partners. He has also worked for the American Enterprise (World Insurance and American Republic) and owned an agency in Phoenix, Arizona, where he began his career in the industry in 1998.

Brent holds the Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC) designation and the Long-Term Care Professional (LTCP) designation.  Brent is an alum of the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

A resident of Omaha, Nebraska, Brent has two children—a daughter, Quinn, and a son, Porter. In his spare time, Brent enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, watching U.S. National soccer teams, boating, traveling and serving in his community.
